This new series will explain in detail the procedure to be followed for GSPCB registration, consent certificate issuance, online services, and compliance requirements of businesses.

The GSPCB is the nodal regulatory agency for monitoring industrial pollution, environmental protection, and sustainable development within the state. Any industry falling within the geographical boundary of the State of Goa or any commercial business, hotel, resort, manufacturing unit, construction project, or waste-generated entity has to obtain valid approvals from the Board for operating lawfully and in compliance with the environment-related norms.

This new series will explain in detail the procedure to be followed for GSPCB registration, consent certificate issuance, online services, and compliance requirements of businesses.

GSPCB approval: Why is this necessary?

According to the Water [Prevention Control of Pollution] Act, 1974, and the Air [Prevention Control of Pollution] Act, 1981, any industrial activity involving a change in the environment requires consent from the pollution control board. The industries operating without due consent risk:

  • Government penalties

  • Closure notices

  • Denial of trade licence or business permits

  • Legal action involving environmental law
